Job summary

Jobtailor in Seattle is seeking an experienced backend engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems and APIs that ingest, enrich, and distribute product data.

You will partner with product, platform, and engineering teams to optimize data flows, own features end-to-end, and lead design reviews to uphold engineering standards. Expect fast iteration in a data-centric, high-throughput environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3–5 years of experience building and maintaining production-grade software systems.
• Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, or another modern backend language.
• Experience with REST APIs, event-driven systems, and cloud-native architectures.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), CI/CD pipelines, and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Comfort working in high-throughput, data-centric environments with a history of shipping features fast and iteratively.
• Experience in retail, commerce, or product/catalog data platforms is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend systems and APIs that ingest, enrich, and distribute product data
• Partner with product, platform, and engineering teams to understand how product data flows and how to improve it
• Own features end-to-end—architecture, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and iteration
• Contribute to system design and code reviews, helping to uphold high engineering standards
• Investigate and resolve production issues quickly and thoroughly
• Drive continuous improvement across system performance, reliability, and developer experience
