Job summary

OpenAI in San Francisco is seeking a backend-focused C++ engineer to design and implement infrastructure for the Codex desktop client. You will help define what a hybrid agentic/interactive web browser should be, contributing across the stack from OS integration to user-facing features.

You'll work with a small team, partner with product and design, and collaborate across Python, TypeScript, and C++. Relocation assistance is available, with a hybrid model requiring three days in the office.

Qualifications

• Experience building technically complex features end-to-end.
• Strong C++ development experience, especially in browser environments (Chromium/Electron).
• Familiarity with web development concepts is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement infrastructure and features end-to-end for the Codex desktop client application.
• Collaborate with product and design to deliver high-performance, stable features across the stack (C++, Python, TypeScript).
• Work with a small, experienced team to deliver a rapidly growing product.
