Job summary

Robinhood is seeking a Backend Software Engineering Intern to own a meaningful project end-to-end, from scoping to production, embedded on a real team, shipping software for a live financial platform.

Based in Menlo Park, CA; Bellevue, WA; or New York, NY, with in-person attendance at least 3 days a week. You will work on backend systems powering brokerage, crypto, payments, and more.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a full-time, degree-seeking program with an expected graduation date of Winter 2027 or Spring 2028
• Strong CS fundamentals and deep understanding of best coding practices
• Solid communication skills and ability to drive large projects forward in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environment
• Passion and interest in financial technology and building fintech products and services
• Prior software engineering experience from internships, hackathons, or personal projects
• Familiarity with Python/Django or Go, and an understanding of relational databases and transactions

Responsibilities

• Own a high-impact backend project from initial scoping through launch — you'll drive the work, not just support it
• Partner with a dedicated mentor who will guide you from onboarding through shipping, deepening your understanding of our tech stack and financial domain along the way
• Design, build, test, and release software solutions that meet the correctness and scalability requirements of a real financial platform
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Robinhood to solve critical problems that span the organization
• Maintain and scale an existing codebase using technologies such as Python/Django, Go, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Redis, Memcached, AWS, and Kubernetes
