Job summary

Yahoo Holdings Inc. is seeking a backend-focused engineer to help build distributed systems for protection and delivery of billions of messages daily. You will work on AI-assisted tooling, translate requirements into robust code, and deploy to production with minimal guidance.

You will contribute to high-performing services in a hybrid work environment, using Java, Go, or C++, and cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS. Strong collaboration and debugging skills are essential.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field; fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and networking.
• 3+ years of backend-focused development in Java, Go, or C++.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate distributed systems for inbound protection, entity reputation, traffic shaping, and message delivery.
• Use AI-assisted development tools as part of your daily workflow, validating and refining what they produce.
• Translate defined technical requirements into correct, readable, testable code, and deploy continuously to production.
• Troubleshoot software failures and tune performance across high-throughput services.
• Design and simplify existing components under minimal guidance.
• Review peers' code, give constructive feedback, and help with estimation.
