iCapital is seeking a Backend Software Engineer at Assistant Vice President level in Salt Lake City, UT. You will design, build, and operate services powering the iCapital platform, collaborating with engineers, product managers, and technical partners throughout the development lifecycle.

The stack emphasizes Scala, Ruby, and Python; prior experience is not required, as strong fundamentals and the ability to learn are valued.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience with a modern language (Ruby/Scala/Python/Java/TypeScript).
• 4+ years building or integrating with APIs and backend services.
• Knowledge of relational or NoSQL databases and data modeling.
• Familiarity with automated testing, version control, and modern delivery practices.
• Experience with cloud application development and distributed systems.
• Strong problem-solving and collaboration/communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain cloud-based services and APIs.
• Translate product and business needs into practical technical solutions.
• Own projects from design through production rollout and ongoing support.
• Write maintainable code and contribute to technical design decisions.
• Participate in code reviews and improve engineering standards.
• Build testing, observability, security, and operational readiness into services.
• Use AI-assisted development tools to improve delivery, investigation, and learning.
