The Role

We are seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (Backend) to join our Quality & Developer Enablement team. This team sets and enforces SDLC strategies and standards through tools and services that support efficient, high-quality product development. The ideal candidate is passionate about empowering developers, enhancing engineering efficiency, leveraging data insights, and fostering continuous improvement.

Addepar offers a market-based pay approach. The starting salary for this role ranges from $90,000 to $141,000 (base salary), plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Exact figures depend on role, skills, experience, location, and market conditions. During hiring, our recruiter will share specific salary details for your preferred location.

What You’ll Do

1. Quality Strategy and Implementation:
   • Contribute to quality initiatives for features and releases, learning best practices.
   • Assist in developing and executing test strategies across testing levels under guidance.
   • Collaborate with developers to understand and improve unit test coverage and integration testing.
2. Test Automation and Framework Development:
   • Build and maintain reliable automated test scripts using modern frameworks.
   • Create reusable test automation components and utilities.
   • Develop API testing skills and maintain test data management solutions.
   • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines with guidance.
3. Quality Analysis and Reporting:
   • Track defect leakage and identify areas for improvement.
   • Participate in incident postmortems to understand root causes.
   • Present quality metrics and insights to stakeholders.
4. Team Collaboration:
   • Participate in code reviews and technical discussions.
   • Contribute to testing process improvements.
   • Support release validation and production testing.

Who You Are

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of software testing experience with automation understanding.
• Proficiency in Python and eager to learn automation frameworks.
• Experience with back-end data testing and investigating technical issues.
• Exposure to performance and API testing concepts.
• Understanding of testing methodologies and quality metrics.
• Experience with distributed systems and data pipelines is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
