Job summary

Taxwell is seeking a Software Engineer II to support backend and platform-focused work using C#/.NET, SQL Server, and services integration. The role includes modernizing legacy systems, improving authentication, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

AI-assisted development tools will be used with accountability for quality and security. We value strong problem solving, the ability to work across services and databases, and experience with CI/CD and source control.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with C# and .NET backend development.
• Strong SQL Server skills and data-driven troubleshooting.
• Experience building and debugging backend services, integrations.
• Ability to understand unfamiliar or legacy code and make safe changes.
• Experience diagnosing production issues using logs and metrics.
• Familiarity with authentication concepts such as OIDC, claims, roles, or Okta.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance backend applications and services.
• Troubleshoot production issues across code, databases, authentication, configuration, logging, integrations, and deployment environments.
• Work with modern and legacy .NET systems and make safe, focused improvements.
• Contribute to modernization of legacy systems, including authentication and observability.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and runbooks.
• Collaborate with Product, IT, Help Desk, Customer Success, and other teams.
• Use AI-assisted tools with critical evaluation before production use.
