Helios Tools & Test Data Management team within Swoon is seeking a contract software engineer in Chicago. Qualifications

• 2–4 years of professional software engineer experience.

• Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot.
• Hands-on AWS experience (EC2, S3, Dynamo, RDS).
• Strong SQL and relational database skills.
• Frontend experience with Angular.
• Solid understanding of REST APIs, CI/CD, and Agile practices.
• Willingness to relocate on own dime if not local.
• Candidates with lead roles or 10+ years experience preferred.

Job description

Location: onsite Chicago, IL 100% M-F; looking for candidates that are currently local ONLY!

Type: Contract

Pay: $48-49/hr w2

Length: 12 months-possibility to convert to full time

Screenings: tech prior to submission, full panel drug and background once hired

IV process: 2-3 rounds

+optional benefits, long term contract with ability to extend or convert to full time

Must Haves:

• 2-4 years experience in this capacity
• Minimum of Bachelors degree in CS or similar industry
• 2-4 years of professional software engineering experience
• Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot
• Hands-on experience with AWS (e.g., EC2, S3, Dynamo, RDS)
• Solid SQL and relational database skills
• Front-end development experience with Angular
• Sound understanding of REST APIs, CI/CD, and Agile practices
• Consistent job hopping/ choppy tenure

Typical task breakdown:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot

Interaction with team:

• Overall team consists of 15 folks. Split into 3 smaller treams
• This role will be on 1 of those 3 teams and grow into the lead role eventually.
• This role could also end up becoming a full time employee.
