Job summary

Helios Tools & Test Data Management team within Swoon is seeking a contract software engineer in Chicago. The role focuses on backend services with Java/Spring Boot, frontend work with Angular, and cloud deployments on AWS. The candidate will join a 12-month contract with potential for extension or conversion to full-time, requiring 2–4 years of experience, a CS-related degree, and relocation if not local.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of professional software engineer experience.
• Bachelor's degree in CS or similar.
• Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot.
• Hands-on AWS experience (EC2, S3, Dynamo, RDS).
• Strong SQL and relational database skills.
• Frontend experience with Angular.
• Solid understanding of REST APIs, CI/CD, and Agile practices.
• Willingness to relocate on own dime if not local.
• Candidates with lead roles or 10+ years experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build responsive front-end interfaces with Angular.
• Deploy, monitor, and optimize cloud-native applications on AWS.
