Job summary

KellyMitchell is seeking a Backend Java Full Stack Developer to support customer communications throughout the travel journey. The role focuses on backend Java with Spring/Spring Boot expertise, delivering scalable notification services across text, email, wallets, and Live Activities.

Hybrid work is available with onsite presence required Tue–Thu in Tempe, AZ. Responsibilities include building, improving, and supporting backend apps, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and participation

Qualifications

• Strong Java backend development experience.
• Experience with Spring/Spring Boot and enterprise applications.
• Full-stack development experience is preferred, but the primary focus is backend Java.
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, and support backend applications using Java and Spring/Spring Boot
• Work with teams across the organization to deliver customer notification capabilities
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues within a highly visible, business-critical application
• Support ongoing enhancements and new development as priorities evolve
• Participate in an on-call rotation as needed

Job Summary

Our client, a leading airlines industry provider, is seeking a Backend Java Full Stack Developer to support the team that manages customer communications throughout the travel journey, from booking through the completion of a flight. Notifications are delivered through text, email, Apple/Google Wallet, Live Activities, and other customer-facing channels.

Contract Details

• Contract type and duration: Contract, 6 months + possibility of extensions
• Work location: Tempe, AZ – ONSITE INTERVIEW REQUIRED – local candidates only
• Onsite, hybrid or remote expectations: Hybrid - onsite Tuesday through Thursday

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, and support backend applications using Java and Spring/Spring Boot
• Work with teams across the organization to deliver customer notification capabilities
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues within a highly visible, business-critical application
• Support ongoing enhancements and new development as priorities evolve
• Participate in an on-call rotation as needed

Required Skills/Experience (Must-haves)

• Strong Java backend development experience
• Experience with Spring/Spring Boot and enterprise applications

Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves)

• Airline industry experience
• Customer notification or messaging platforms
• Experience with Apple/Google Wallet, iOS Live Activities, or mobile notifications
• Android/Kotlin or iOS development experience
• Databricks/data lakes experience
• Angular is not a significant requirement for this position

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $33.00 and $48.00 per hour. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
