Job summary

INSPYR Solutions is seeking a hybrid Baltimore-based Full Stack Software Engineer (Backend Focus) to modernize and scale backend services using Python and AWS. The role emphasizes AI-assisted development, API design, and cloud-native architectures within an agile team.

The engineer will tackle greenfield modernization, implement scalable backend systems, and collaborate closely with product owners and architects to accelerate delivery. React frontend support is occasional but essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on development experience with Python.
• Experience building and deploying applications within AWS environments.
• Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming and software engineering fundamentals.
• Experience designing scalable, maintainable backend systems.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Demonstrated problem-solving ability and adaptability when working with new technologies.
• Hands-on experience utilizing AI-assisted development tools within real-world engineering workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services, APIs, and integrations using Python.
• Build scalable, secure, cloud-native applications on AWS.
• Participate in the design and development of a next-generation platform modernization initiative.
• Partner with product owners, architects, and engineers in an Agile environment to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding, testing, debugging, documentation, and solution delivery.
• Contribute to API design, service architecture, and cloud infrastructure decisions.
• Support frontend integrations and occasionally contribute to user-facing applications built with React and related technologies.
• Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and engineering best practices initiatives.
• Reverse engineer and modernize legacy business logic where required.
• Help improve engineering velocity through automation, AI-assisted workflows, and continuous improvement practices.
• Deliver features and enhancements within an iterative two-week sprint cadence.
