Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a backend engineer to own end-to-end money movement features within the Money Movement team. You will design and build backend systems and APIs powering stablecoin-based payments, in a remote-first environment with quarterly in-person surges.

You will collaborate across Product, Design, Infrastructure, and Compliance to balance speed, security, and regulatory needs, while driving scalability and reliability improvements in distributed systems.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of software engineering experience building and operating backend systems in fintech, payments, or crypto.
• Proficiency in backend languages (Go, Java) and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP).
• Experience serving as DRI for technical projects, delivering end-to-end from design to production.
• Experience with blockchain/crypto tech such as stablecoins, on-chain payments, or smart contract platforms.
• Ability to write technical design documents and communicate trade-offs to stakeholders.
• Uses generative AI responsibly with human oversight to improve workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Responsibilities

• Own key projects end-to-end as the DRI, driving stablecoin-based money movement features from design to production deployment.
• Build backend systems, infrastructure, and internal/external APIs enabling embedding stablecoin payments in products.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Infrastructure, and Compliance to balance speed, security, and regulatory needs.
• Improve performance, scalability, and reliability across distributed systems and fix bottlenecks before customer impact.
• Support engineering quality through code reviews and architectural best practices.
