Job description

I’m partnering with a high-growth, venture-backed consumer technology company in NYC that is expanding its engineering team and looking to hire two Backend Engineers.

This is a small, highly technical engineering team where you’ll have significant ownership from day one. Rather than joining a large organization and owning a tiny piece of a platform, you’ll be directly involved in designing and building new products, making architectural decisions and taking systems from concept through production and scale.

What you’ll be working on

• You’ll work across a range of technically interesting backend problems, including building new APIs and data models, developing systems that ingest and structure large amounts of real-world data, creating infrastructure for new consumer-facing products, and improving internal tooling and payment/subscription systems.
• You’ll also have the opportunity to work on backend infrastructure supporting voice and video data as the business continues to improve how its technology understands and matches users.

What they’re looking for

• You’ll likely have experience with areas such as backend engineering, distributed systems, APIs, databases, infrastructure, event-driven architecture or building systems from zero through production.
• Experience taking ownership of architecture, working on core engineering teams, building technically ambitious side projects, or being an early/founding engineer would all be particularly interesting.
• The current backend environment includes Python, FastAPI and PostgreSQL, although the team is language-agnostic and happy to consider strong engineers coming from Java, Go, C++, Rust, C# or similar backgrounds.
