Job summary

nexus IT group seeks a Backend & Cloud Engineer in Austin to design, develop, and secure scalable backend services and cloud infrastructure. You will join a small, collaborative team connecting cloud services, apps, and hardware, translating requirements into production-grade software.

You’ll focus on API design, distributed systems, CI/CD, and security, while mentoring internal and external contributors in a regulated environment. Onsite work in the United States is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience with Java-based frameworks and cloud technologies.
• Strong experience designing APIs, service-oriented architectures, and scalable backend systems.
• Professional experience with Java and/or Kotlin in production environments.
• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and containerized application deployment.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including performance optimization and security best practices.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable backend services and APIs.
• Architect, maintain, and optimize cloud infrastructure and data integrations.
• Build data processing pipelines for device-generated and operational data.
• Implement authentication, authorization, and security best practices.
