Job summary

Affirm is hiring for a software engineer on the Streaming team to design, build, and launch backend systems using Python or Kotlin. You will work with product, design, and analytics to translate business needs into robust data infrastructure and scalable services.

As a remote-first company, most roles can be done from anywhere in the U.S. with occasional in-person onboarding. The role emphasizes ownership, collaboration, and strong communication across a global engineering team.

Qualifications

• 1.5+ years as a software engineer.
• Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems in Python or Kotlin.
• Familiar with distributed systems and technologies such as AWS, Kafka, Flink and Kubernetes.
• Ability to translate problems into multi-component solutions with well-tested code.
• Comfort navigating large codebases and performing code reviews.

Responsibilities

• Break down projects into tasks and deliver in phases.
• Collaborate with product management, design and analytics throughout the lifecycle.
• Support operations by monitoring metrics and on-call efforts.
