Job summary

Astra Security is seeking a Backend Engineer to build and ship features across our financial systems and microservices. You’ll work on payments, fraud detection, compliance, and user management from design through production.

You will join a small team delivering independent, reliable software with strong domain knowledge. This role emphasizes correctness, scalability, and collaboration across product and compliance.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience building production backend systems.
• Experience delivering features independently, from ambiguous requirements to production.
• Strong fundamentals in algorithms and data structures.
• Experience with distributed systems or microservices; ability to travel up to 15% annually.

Responsibilities

• Own features end to end: design, build, test, deploy backend features across payments, fraud, compliance, and user management.
• Integrate with financial partners and APIs: bank and card network integrations and edge-case handling.
• Contribute to design: write and review designs and participate in architecture discussions.
• Improve performance and reliability: fix bottlenecks and raise test quality and observability.
• Collaborate across teams: work with product and compliance to turn requirements into software.
