Astra, a remote-first fintech infrastructure company in the United States, seeks a Backend Engineer to design, build, and deploy scalable backend services across payments, fraud, and compliance. You’ll work with a small team on a distributed microservices architecture, delivering features end to end and collaborating with banks and third-party APIs.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in backend engineering, a solid CS foundation, and experience with Python (Flask), SQL/NoSQL, and cloud platforms.

Formación

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience building production backend systems.
• Proven ability to deliver features independently from ambiguous requirements to production.
• Solid foundation in algorithms, data structures, and CS fundamentals.
• Experience with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, or microservices.
• Willingness to travel up to ~15% annually.

Responsabilidades

• Own features end to end: design, build, test, and deploy backend features and services across payments, fraud, compliance, and user management.
• Integrate with financial partners and APIs: build and maintain integrations with banks, card networks, and other third-party services.
• Contribute to design: write and review technical designs and participate in architecture discussions.
• Improve performance and reliability: identify bottlenecks and failure modes across microservices and improve test observability.
• Collaborate across teams: work with product and compliance to translate business and regulatory requirements into working software.
