Job summary

Off Duty Management in Katy, Texas is hiring a Backend Software Engineer (FastAPI) to build and maintain the FastAPI microservices powering OfficerTRAK. This onsite role collaborates with frontend, mobile, and DevOps teams to deliver secure, scalable APIs in a production environment.

You will design data models, implement authentication, and ensure robust test coverage across the service lifecycle, including deployment on AKS and observability integrations.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional backend software development experience with Python.

Responsibilities

• Design and build production-grade FastAPI services — define RESTful API contracts and data models.
• Own data modeling and query design for PostgreSQL, migrations with Alembic.
• Build reliable asynchronous workflows with Celery and manage background tasks.
• Ship, deploy, and operate services on Azure/Kubernetes (AKS).
• Implement authentication/authorization (OAuth2/JWT) and security best practices.
• Write unit/integration/functional tests (pytest) and ensure code quality.
• Participate in code reviews and design discussions to shape APIs.
• Instrument services with logging, metrics, and tracing for observability.
