Job summary

Modal is seeking strong backend engineers to build developer tools for AI workloads at scale. You’ll design and ship scalable Python services and data pipelines, collaborating with frontend and data teams to enable new AI workflows.

Qualifications

• Experience building and shipping modern web apps end-to-end.
• Frontend TypeScript, backend Python, and data systems like ClickHouse.
• Strong observability and monitoring for large-scale workloads.
• Experience with billing/payments, B2B SaaS tooling, or enterprise/LLM workloads.
• Customer-focused mindset with ability to trade off speed vs. scale.
• Willingness to work in-person at the NYC office.
