Description
We are looking for a Back-End Engineer to join our growing team working on a major federal health IT application. This role involves close collaboration with other engineers to build, scale, and maintain critical back-end services. You’ll contribute to system design, write clean and efficient code, and help drive architectural decisions. Your work will directly support national healthcare programs and have a meaningful impact.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable back-end services using Golang
- Contribute to and communicate architectural decisions across the development team
- Write and maintain SQL queries and scripts; work with PostgreSQL, Redshift, DynamoDB, S3, and Liquibase
- Integrate services with front-end applications using RESTful APIs, JSON, and MuleSoft
- Support system documentation and contribute to deployment planning and versioning
- Track and report on technical progress against development goals
- Identify risks, evaluate technologies, and help guide the team toward mature solutions
- Collaborate using tools like JIRA, Confluence, and follow SAFe Agile practices
- Ensure code quality and maintainability through reviews and testing
- Communicate technical information clearly to a range of stakeholders
- Stay up to date on best practices, tools, and trends in back-end development
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in relevant field, or experience in lieu of
- Minimum 3 years of experience developing back-end systems using Golang
- Experience in the federal healthcare industry, especially CMS or hospital quality reporting, highly preferred
- Strong experience with SQL, PostgreSQL, Redshift, DynamoDB, S3, and Liquibase
- Familiarity with front-end integration using Angular and JavaScript (basic understanding is sufficient)
- Proficient in building and consuming REST APIs, working with JSON, and using service registries
- Knowledge of FHIR-compliant APIs and FHIR server standards
- Understanding of data architecture and DevOps tools
- Experience working in Agile environments with SAFe, JIRA, and Confluence
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS preferred

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 to $110,000.00. Actual compensation will depend on a range of factors, including but not limited to the individual’s skills, experience, qualifications, certifications, location, other business and organizational needs, and applicable employment laws. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of the total compensation package for employees.
