Job summary

Applied Intuition in Ann Arbor seeks experienced backend engineers to design and implement high-performance C++ systems for Axion and Acuity, our defense autonomy products. Qualifications

  • Professional software engineering experience with strong C++ at the core.
  • Strong fundamentals in systems programming, concurrency, performance, and distributed systems.
  • Interest in autonomy, robotics or physical AI.
  • Exposure to or curiosity about multi-domain defense systems.
  • Solid CS/CE/EE foundation; rigorous thinking about correctness and performance.
  • Python proficiency for tooling and automation.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement high-performance backend systems in C++ for Axion and Acuity.
  • Address multi-domain autonomy challenges across unmanned platforms and joint-force scenarios.
  • Build scalable, reliable infrastructure for operation in contested conditions.
  • Collaborate with researchers, product teams and defense customers.
  • Own end-to-end execution from architecture to deployment.
  • Support rapid buildout of the Ann Arbor site and define engineering standards.
  • Interface with DOD programs to meet real-world demands.
