Job summary

Boom Supersonic is hiring software engineers at mid- to senior levels in Austin, TX. We place you at the right level based on demonstrated competency, with room to move across the stack as needed.

You will design, build, and maintain user-facing products and backend systems, contribute to core backend architecture, own services in production, and collaborate with product, operations, and leadership to align technical solutions with business needs.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional web development experience.
• Strong backend development across the full stack.
• Experience with Ruby; ramp quickly in our stack (Grape/Sequel).
• Experience integrating third-party APIs (OAuth, webhooks).
• Ownership of services in production with observability and on-call.
• Experience using AI coding agents in daily work (Claude Code).
• Strong cross-team communication.
• Ability to steer direction in an early-stage environment.
• Empathy for renters and desire to build impactful products.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain user-facing products and the backend systems that power our platform.
• Contribute to and help evolve our core backend architecture, with attention to scalability and performance.
• Own your services in production, including observability, on-call, and debugging real incidents.
• Collaborate with product, operations, and leadership to align technical solutions with business needs.
• Drive engineering practice through code review, testing, and documentation.
