Job summary

Zaxby's Back-of-House Team Members ensure menu items are prepared safely, consistently, and efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen. You will work with other cooks to maintain high standards for food quality, safety, cleanliness, and portion control.

You'll follow approved recipes and procedures, operate fryers and grills, monitor temperatures, and help open/close the kitchen. This role emphasizes teamwork, reliability, and the ability to stand long hours while minimizing waste and ensuring timely

Qualifications

• Previous kitchen experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
• Strong attention to food safety and cleanliness.
• Dependable and team-oriented.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
• Ability to safely lift and move restaurant supplies as required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare menu items according to approved recipes, procedures, and portion standards.
• Bread, cook, fry, grill, assemble, and finish products as assigned.
• Operate fryers, grills, warming equipment, and other kitchen equipment safely.
• Monitor cooking times and food temperatures.
• Maintain appropriate product levels during service.
• Follow FIFO product rotation procedures.
• Properly label, date, store, and rotate food.
• Prevent cross-contamination.
• Follow handwashing and glove-use requirements.
• Maintain a clean and sanitized workstation.
• Communicate product needs and shortages to shift leadership.
• Minimize food waste through proper preparation and portion control.
• Complete opening, closing, and cleaning duties.
• Assist other kitchen stations during high-volume periods.
