Job summary

Goodwill Industries of NCPA in Lock Haven, PA is seeking a Back Door Attendant for our Retail Program. This part-time position involves accepting donations from the general public and unloading donated items from donors' vehicles.

You will help keep the donation area clean, assist with the loading/unloading of trucks, and ensure donations meet the organization's standards. Weekday shifts with physically demanding tasks are required.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred, but on-the-job training is provided
  • Must have good work habits, such as acceptable attitude and punctuality
  • Must respond appropriately to supervision
  • Must possess adequate physical endurance to work at industrial standards
  • Must be able to regularly lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Accept donations from the general public
  • Assist in the unloading of donated items from donors' vehicles
  • Treat all customers with respect
  • Refuse any donation that does not meet Goodwill's standards and inform customers where to take items that do meet standards
  • Offer a tax donation slip after taking donations and sign acknowledging acceptance of donations
  • Store donations to maximize available space, stacking safely and orderly; pack all loose donations into bags or boxes
  • Assist in the loading and unloading of the Goodwill truck
  • In winter, keep access clear of snow and ice

Job Location: Lock Haven Store - Lock Haven, PA 17745 • Position Type: Part Time • Salary Range: $10.75 - $10.75 Hourly • Job Shift: Any • Title: Back Door Attendant - Retail Program

Purpose

Accept donations from the public.

Essential Functions
  • Accept donations from the general public
  • Assist in the unloading of donated items from donors' vehicles
  • Treat all customers with respect
  • Refuse any donation that does not meet Goodwill's standards (e.g., torn, stained, broken furniture, large appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, stoves, washers, and dryers). If the customer insists the items are working, inform them they must take them to our local processing center in Falls Creek between 8:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • Offer a tax donation slip after taking donations and sign acknowledging acceptance of donations
  • Store donations to maximize available space, stacking safely and orderly; pack all loose donations into bags or boxes
  • Constantly check the area outside the building for litter and keep it clean; immediately bring any donations left outside during off hours inside
  • Assist in the loading and unloading of the Goodwill truck
  • In winter, keep access clear of snow and ice
Relations

Works under the direct supervision of the Store Manager/Assistant Manager. Also works under the direct and/or indirect supervision of the Senior Sales Manager, President and CEO of Goodwill Industries and/or the Vice President of Retail Operations.
