Job summary

West Morris Area YMCA in Randolph, NJ is seeking a part-time School Age Child Care Counselor (SACC) for before and after care programs. This role supports our mission by promoting safety, learning, and positive activities for children from 7-9 am and/or 2:30-6 pm.

You will work under the Site Director, assist with homework, supervise activities, provide first aid if needed, and maintain licensing records. CPR/First Aid certification and experience with children are required; bilingual skills are

Qualifications

• CPR/First aid certification.
• Understanding of and enthusiasm for the mission of the YMCA.
• Experience working with children in a learning or camp environment.
• Ability to relate to diverse groups of people from all backgrounds.
• Bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a culture of safety.
• Support activities including homework, sports, crafts, and cleanup under the Site Director.
• Administer EMERGENCY First Aid and/or CPR as needed.
• Maintain records required by the NJ Office of Licensing.
• Supervise and discipline children per policy; assist with safety.
• Share skills for program improvement and prepare snacks.
• Additional tasks as assigned.

Salary Range: $16.50 - $18.00 Hourly

Position Summary

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The School Age Child Care Counselor (SACC) - Before and After Care Program supports the mission of the West Morris Area YMCA by fostering a passion for the joy of learning and adventure in children. (Part-Time Hourly - 7-9 am and/or 2:30-6 pm)

Essential Functions

• Maintains a culture of safety.
• Under the direction of the Site Director, support assigned activities which may include homework assistance, sports, games, crafts, clean‑up, fire drills and other procedures required.
• Administer EMERGENCY First Aid and/or CPR to any injured person as needed.
• Maintain records and forms required by the NJ Office of Licensing.
• Supervise and discipline children based on written policies.
• Counselors consult with the Site Director on any questions of policy or procedure, disciplinary action, or safety.
• Ensure that areas, equipment, and facilities used by the students are maintained in a clean, serviceable, safe, and orderly manner.
• Share skills and talents for the improvement of the program.
• Prepare and distribute snacks.
• Additional tasks as assigned.
