The University of Chicago seeks a skilled Electric Shop technician to maintain, repair and troubleshoot electrical systems across campus buildings and facilities. You will interpret blueprints and diagrams, plan tasks, and assist with minor installations while ensuring safety and compliance with university standards.
Required five years in the trade, a high school diploma or GED, and NICET Fire Alarm Level I certification with Level II preferred.

Job Summary: Responsible for maintenance, repair, troubleshooting and minor installation of all types of electrical systems, devices and equipment. Performs duties throughout University buildings, property and facilities, in accordance with University standards and procedures.
Education, Experience, or Certifications:
Must demonstrate mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity and be physically capable of strenuous activity over extended periods of time.
Must be able to lift and move loads appropriate to job requirements and be able to bend and work in a kneeling position for periods of time.
Must be able to climb stairs and ladders, be capable of working at heights as required, be able to enter and work within tight spaces, and be able to withstand hot and cold temperatures.
This position requires periods of overtime.
$47.04 per hour
