We are dedicated to delivering impactful results to meet mission goals through cutting-edge technology and expertise. We are seeking an Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Engineer to join our dynamic team. This individual will play a pivotal role in developing innovative and effective solutions for our DoD customers within the IC sector.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring high availability, performance, and security of the AVD infrastructure to support end users across the organization. This role requires hands-on expertise in Azure services, strong troubleshooting capabilities, and a deep understanding of desktop virtualization technologies in an enterprise or government environment.

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain a production-grade Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environment.
  • Manage AVD host pools, session hosts, application groups, user assignments, and FSLogix profile containers.
  • Perform system updates, patching, and ongoing configuration management for AVD resources and related Azure services.
  • Automate provisioning, scaling, and deprovisioning of AVD session hosts using Azure automation and Infrastructure-as-Code tools (e.g., ARM templates, Bicep, Terraform).
  • Integrate AVD with Microsoft Intune, Active Directory (Azure AD/Hybrid AD Join), and conditional access policies.
  • Monitor performance and availability using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and third-party observability tools.
  • Troubleshoot user connectivity, session performance, and application issues within the AVD environment.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, Zero Trust architecture, and security baselines.
  • Collaborate with security and IT teams to implement RBAC, just-in-time access, and endpoint protection strategies.
  • Maintain documentation of system architecture, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and change management logs.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of experience in administering and supporting Azure-based infrastructure.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with Azure Virtual Desktop or Windows Virtual Desktop.
  • Proficiency with PowerShell scripting and automation of Azure workloads.
  • Experience managing FSLogix profiles, storage accounts, and network file shares.
  • Familiarity with Azure AD, group policies, and Microsoft 365 integration.
  • Strong understanding of networking principles (e.g., NSGs, VPN, ExpressRoute) in cloud environments.
  • Knowledge of security best practices in a cloud-hosted virtual desktop environment.
Desired Qualifications
  • Microsoft certifications such as AZ-140: Configuring and Operating Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop, AZ-104, or AZ-500.
  • Experience in a regulated environment (e.g., FedRAMP, DoD, HIPAA).
  • Familiarity with multi-tenant AVD environments or AVD for Government Cloud (GCC High).
  • Experience with ServiceNow, ITSM, and incident/change/problem management processes.
