Job summary

Florida National University, Inc. seeks a Network Support and Security Technician to safeguard the university’s network infrastructure, respond to incidents, and support staff with IT needs. The role covers monitoring, analysis, and training staff in software and networking usage.

You will assist with security controls, maintain Azure resources, and help with daily IT operations while adhering to FERPA, GDPR, and university policies. Flexible hours may be required.

Qualifications

• Four-year university degree in CIS/MIS/CS/IS and/or 3+ years equivalent IT Network Support experience.
• Familiarity with Azure services (Azure AD, Azure Firewall).
• Experience with firewalls, antivirus, and basic intrusion detection systems.
• Understanding of VPNs, LAN/WAN networking, and patch management.
• Knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems; ability to provide desktop support.
• Experience with Office 365, DNS, DHCP, Windows Server environments.
• Experience with switches, routers, firewalls, and low-voltage cabling.
• Active Directory and security best practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist staff with basic training in computer software or network use, as directed.
• Respond to faculty and staff requests for hardware/software issues and escalate as needed.
• Support IT department operations and routine maintenance.
• Document and report security incidents; assess impact under supervision.
• Monitor security alerts and respond within Azure environment; escalate threats.
