Frontdoor Defense is seeking an experienced senior architect to lead application modernization and migration initiatives to Azure PaaS in a Kirkland, WA setting. Qualifications

• 12+ years of application development and modernization experience.
• Hands-on web application development experience.
• Experience developing, configuring, and hosting applications on IIS.
• Hands-on hosting on Azure PaaS.
• Experience migrating and modernizing applications to Azure.
• Strong understanding of Azure hosting and configuration optimization.
• Experience with Azure App Service, Functions, AKS, and ACI.
• Understanding of architecture, dependencies, integrations, and migration pathways.
• Experience with containerization and Kubernetes.
• Experience hosting containerized apps on AKS.
• Understanding of database connectivity and app-to-database integration.
• Experience with application performance assessment before and after migration.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture.
• Strong software engineering and solution design experience.
• Experience creating architectural diagrams and UML diagrams.
• Experience with migration scenarios and methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead application modernization and migration initiatives to Azure PaaS.
• Analyze architecture, dependencies, and integrations.
• Design hosting solutions using Azure App Service, Functions, AKS, and ACI.
• Optimize hosting configurations and performance in Azure.
• Define target-state architecture and cloud adoption strategies.
• Contribute to Landing Zone design and migration planning.
• Create architectural diagrams and UML designs.
• Containerize applications and deploy on Kubernetes/AKS.
• Assess performance before and after migration.
• Evaluate migration scenarios and recommend pathways.
• Collaborate with EA, Data Platform, DevOps, and PM teams.
• Ensure alignment with Azure best practices and stakeholder needs.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to teams (5+).
• Troubleshoot hosting issues across Azure PaaS.
• Support multiple projects concurrently (10–12).
• Participate in customer discussions and technical reviews.
• Provide migration support during weekends when needed.
• Work across time zones as required.
