Job summary

EY is seeking an Assistant Director-level engineer to lead large, complex government cloud programs within Azure Government environments. You will guide technical direction, enable delivery teams, and balance delivery, security, and platform health across multiple workstreams.

You will develop team capability, drive continuous improvement, and collaborate with product, engineering, and leadership to deliver scalable, compliant cloud solutions for U.S. defense and government engagements.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in engineering roles working with private/public cloud IaaS, PaaS, and/or SaaS.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience.
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) and Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305).
• Infrastructure as Code & CI/CD – design and deliver with Bicep, Azure DevOps, ARM templates, or Ansible.
• Containers and orchestration – Docker, Kubernetes, AKS, Azure Container Apps, Helm.
• Networking fundamentals – VNets, subnets, NSGs, routing, load-balancing.
• Cloud security principles – shared responsibility, least privilege, identity-driven security, NIST/FedRAMP.
• Identity and access – Entra ID, Azure RBAC, PIM, managed identities.
• Windows and Linux administration – patching, tuning, baselines.
• Scripting – PowerShell (Python a plus).
• Experience with government security frameworks (NIST).
• Hands-on delivery in Agile environments (Scrum/Kanban/SAFe).
• Strong written and verbal communication for distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Own delivery of cloud platform and infrastructure capabilities across initiatives, aligning with security requirements.
• Set and guide technical direction for Azure Government platforms.
• Establish and evolve DevSecOps practices and automation for quality and reliability.
• Make informed trade-off decisions balancing speed, quality, security and risk.
• Lead architecture and design efforts, ensuring alignment with standards and outcomes.
• Oversee risk, dependency, and issue management across delivery efforts.
• Influence stakeholders to align priorities and drive execution without direct authority.
• Develop and grow engineering talent through coaching and delegation.
• Promote operational excellence by improving processes and tooling.
