Job summary

General Dynamics NASSCO in San Diego seeks an AI Engineer to design, build, and operate production‑grade AI solutions within Azure Gov. You will test LLMs, optimize RAG pipelines, and help connect AI agents to enterprise systems via MCP servers and secure orchestration tools.

The role supports BI/DevOps, implements RBAC and data protection, and helps move proofs of concept toward production in a fast‑paced IT environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 1–2 years’ experience with LLMs, RAG, or AI solution development.
• Foundational understanding of Azure or other cloud platforms; exposure to Azure Gov is a plus.
• Interest or basic experience in prompt engineering and agentic AI workflows.
• Exposure to RBAC, secrets/key management (Key Vault), and data protection concepts.
• Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving IT environment and respond with urgency.

Responsibilities

• Assist in testing and evaluating LLMs and model variants for performance and quality.
• Support RAG benchmarking (latency, relevance, accuracy, cost) and optimize embeddings and prompts.
• Help build and configure MCP servers or similar integrations to securely connect AI agents to enterprise data.
• Assist with agentic AI workflows using platforms like N8N, Azure Foundry, and Copilot Studio.
• Contribute to design and implementation of modular AI microservices and APIs.
• Support BI and DevOps teams in adopting AI/ML capabilities toward production.
• Help implement RBAC, Key Vault, and data protection for AI workloads.
• Assist with monitoring, incident response, and documentation in Azure Gov environments.
