Job summary

APCO Holdings is seeking a Cloud Optimization Architect to lead the financial and technical evolution of our Azure ecosystem. This senior role focuses on maximizing value from a $1M+ annual Azure spend through IaC, governance, and data-driven FinOps practices.

You will own cost-aware architecture, drive automated workflows, and partner with stakeholders across IT and business units to deliver measurable savings and scalable cloud solutions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in IT infrastructure or systems engineering.
• 5+ years of hands-on Azure architecture experience with spend management at scale ($50k–$100k+/month).
• Expert-level proficiency in IaC using Terraform (preferred) or Bicep in production.
• Advanced Azure Billing Knowledge: EA/MCA agreements, Azure Resource Graph (Kusto/KQL).
• Data Platform Experience: optimizing Azure Databricks, ADLS, and Entra ID integration.

Responsibilities

• Lead FinOps lifecycle phases: Inform, Optimize, and Operate to maintain a lean cloud footprint.
• Manage Azure Reservations and Savings Plans for ROI and coverage.
• Develop Power BI dashboards and showback/chargeback reports for spend visibility.
• Implement Azure governance controls (Policy, Tagging, Management Groups) to prevent cost leakage.
• Lead monthly Optimization Reviews with application owners for rightsizing opportunities.
• Design cost-efficient Azure Databricks environments with auto-termination and Spot policies.
