Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in CS/related field.
• 5-7 years of database engineering/administration experience.
• Advanced hands-on experience with Azure SQL, Microsoft SQL, and enterprise DB platforms.
• Experience designing backup, DR solutions, and capacity planning.
• Automation scripting and workflows expertise.
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and data governance.

Job Title: Azure DBA

• Design, implement, and manage advanced cloud database architectures, ensuring scalability and reliability

• Work with Agile development teams leveraging Liquibase to manage database scheme changes

• Monitor and optimize database performance and capacity planning

• Develop and manage backup policies, data retention policies, and disaster recovery plans

• Conduct in-depth performance analyses and execute tuning initiatives

• Develop advanced automation workflows to improve database operations efficiency

• Implement and enforce robust encryption and security protocols; drive initiatives for regulatory compliance

• Diagnose and solve advanced database issues with minimal supervision, ensuring data integrity and availability

• Collaborate with Digital Agile teams, Digital Engineering, and ETS Data partners to align database strategies with business goals

• Improve operational quality by compiling and analyzing data, and preparing recommendations based on that analysis for use in decision-making

• Prepare technical, process, and operations-related documentation

• Track work in accordance with team processes and ensure task and backlog items are properly documented

• Prepare and deliver clear, concise, and effective communications to teams and management

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related field or the equivalent combination of education, training or experience

• 5-7 years of experience in database engineering and administration

• Complete knowledge and understanding of business area/specialization

• Advanced skill with hands-on experience in Azure SQL, Microsoft SQL, and enterprise database platforms

• Advanced skill designing, testing and deploying backup and disaster recovery solutions

• Advanced skill in database performance tuning and capacity planning with monitoring

• Experience in developing advanced automation scripts and workflows

• Advanced knowledge of regulatory frameworks

• Advance knowledge in secure data practices and data governance

• Advanced skill to design scalable database solutions and address advanced performance bottlenecks

• Expert analytical/quantitative, problem-solving, and deductive reasoning skills, with demonstrated experience performing advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis of complex technical issues

• Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills and ability to work independently and in a team environment to manage concurrent priorities and meet deadlines

• Advanced verbal and written communication skills and ability to present findings, conclusions, alternatives, and information clearly and concisely

• Experience working with all levels of staff, management, stakeholders, and vendors with demonstrated ability to build effective relationships through rapport, trust, diplomacy and tact

Desired

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate

• Hands-on experience using Liquibase to manage schema changes

• Experience supporting platform engineering, infrastructure, cloud, digital, or software engineering organizations

• Familiarity with application modernization and decommissioning programs

• Experience working with risk, audit, cybersecurity, compliance, and regulatory initiatives

• Experience with the banking/financial services industry
