Job summary

Steptoe LLP, a Washington, DC-based Am Law 100 law firm, seeks an Enterprise Cloud & Systems Engineer to design, build, operate, and continuously improve enterprise cloud and hybrid infrastructure with a primary focus on Microsoft Azure.

This hands-on role implements cloud foundations, manages hybrid connectivity, automates infrastructure, and ensures reliability, security, and scalability of core IT platforms.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of hands-on cloud, platform, or infrastructure engineering experience.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Azure services, architecture, and best practices.
• Experience integrating on-premises and cloud systems in hybrid environments.
• Windows Server and Active Directory administration experience.
• IaC using Terraform and/or Bicep; PowerShell scripting for automation.
• CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub; solid networking fundamentals.
• Knowledge of VNets, ExpressRoute or VPN, NSGs and related networking.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and operate Azure infrastructure including IaaS and some PaaS.
• Build landing zones, subscription structures, and governance controls.
• Manage hybrid connectivity and identity synchronization across environments.
• Administer AD/Entra ID, authentication flows, conditional access, RBAC.
• Create and maintain IaC, automation, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Monitor, secure, and optimize cloud platforms; incident response support.
• Document standards and runbooks; provide advanced technical support.
