Job summary

Jenner & Block LLP is seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer to join its internal cloud infrastructure team in Chicago. The role focuses on deploying and operating Azure-based infrastructure, with 3–5 years of hands-on Azure experience and proficiency with Bicep, ARM templates, and Azure DevOps for CI/CD.

Responsibilities include implementing scalable Azure resources, automating deployments, monitoring performance, and ensuring security and compliance across services.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of hands-on Azure engineering experience.
• Proficiency with Azure DevOps, Bicep, and ARM templates for IaC.
• Experience gathering requirements and translating them into Azure solutions.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Microsoft Azure Associate-level certification required (AZ-104 or AZ-204).
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Implement Azure infrastructure – plan and build cloud-based infrastructure and services in Microsoft Azure to meet project requirements.
• Automate deployments and configurations – develop and maintain IaC templates (Azure Bicep, ARM) and use Azure DevOps pipelines for CI/CD.
• Service deployment & management – deploy Azure services and integrate them into the environment; improve deployment processes.
• Monitoring and optimization – use Azure Monitor to ensure high availability and performance; resize resources for cost efficiency.
• Security and compliance – apply Azure security best practices; ensure compliance with internal policies.
• Collaboration and requirements gathering – work with architects, developers, and PMs to translate requirements into Azure solutions.
• Independent decision‑making – recommend Azure services/architecture to meet goals.
• Documentation and knowledge sharing – maintain design/docs/diagrams for operations.
• Committed to exploring additional Microsoft platforms that integrate with Azure (Purview, Power Platform, Entra ID).
