Job summary
World Wide Technology, Washington, DC, is seeking an Azure Cloud Engineer to support the Government Services team in building, securing, and operating scalable Azure infrastructure. You will design VMs, VNets, and PaaS, and drive IaC with Terraform while ensuring DoD/federal compliance.
The role requires hands-on experience with Terraform, AVD, and GitLab CI/CD, plus a current Secret clearance and the ability to work onsite four days per week in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- Must have Azure Cloud Engineering experience with strong hands-on Azure core services.
- Extensive Terraform experience for IaC and automation.
- Proficiency with GitLab CI/CD and PowerShell scripting.
- Experience building and securing Azure environments and AVD.
- Onsite work four days per week with ability to obtain Top Secret clearance.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and maintain Azure cloud infrastructure including VMs, VNets, storage, and PaaS services.
- Develop and maintain Terraform templates as primary IaC tool; support automation via PowerShell, Bash, YAML/JSON, and GitLab pipelines.
- Deploy and manage Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments and integrate with Azure AD/M365.
- Build, maintain, and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines in GitLab.
- Apply secure cloud practices per FedRAMP/NIST/RMF and manage IAM, Key Vault, and encryption.
- Monitor, diagnose, and improve system reliability using Azure Monitor and related tools.
- Collaborate with security, engineering, and program teams; support onsite stakeholders four days per week.

- 3+ years of experience with Azure Cloud Engineering
- 3+ years of experience with CI/CD pipelines
- 3+ years of experience using Terraform for IaC
- 3+ years of experience using GitLab
- Minimum of 4 years experience with PowerShell scripting
- 5+ years of experience in Cloud Engineering, DevOps, or Systems Engineering (mid-level target).
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure core services and architecture.
- Proficiency with Terraform (high priority), PowerShell, and GitLab CI/CD.
- Experience supporting Azure networking (VNets, routing, NSGs, VPN/ExpressRoute).
- Hands-on experience with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) in production environments.
- Understanding of federal cloud security frameworks (FedRAMP, NIST, RMF).
- Strong troubleshooting and communication abilities, with ability to operate onsite 4 days/week.
- Minimum of Secret clearance required with the ability to obtain Top Secret
- Experience supporting DoD or federal agency cloud environments.
- Experience with Docker/Kubernetes (AKS).
- Azure serverless tools (Functions, Logic Apps, Event Grid).
- Cost optimization using Azure Cost Management / FinOps practices.
Certain states and localities require employers to post a reasonable estimate of salary range. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $145,000.00 to $165,000.00 annually. Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors, including shift, location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. Certain positions may also be eligible for variable incentive compensation, such as bonuses or commissions, that is not included in the base pay.

World Wide Technology, LLC has an opportunity available for an Azure Cloud Engineer to support our Government Services team in building, maintaining, and optimizing scalable cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have strong skills in DevSecOps practices, with hands-on experience in infrastructure automation, configuration management, and CI/CD pipelines. You will be responsible for designing, building, and securing cloud environments that enable scalable, reliable, and secure business applications.
- Design, deploy, and maintain Azure cloud infrastructure including VMs, VNets, Storage, Azure AD, and PaaS services.
- Manage and optimize Azure networking components (VNets, NSGs, Load Balancers, VPN/ExpressRoute connectivity).
- Develop and maintain Terraform templates as the primary IaC tool (critical requirement emphasized by hiring managers).
- Support automation via PowerShell, Bash, YAML/JSON, and GitLab pipelines.
- Deploy, configure, and manage AVD environments including host pools, session hosts, FSLogix profile containers, and Azure AD/M365 integrations.
- Provide troubleshooting and performance optimization for AVD users (explicit customer requirement).
- Build, maintain, and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines in GitLab.
- Automate cloud operations, system configuration, and monitoring tasks.
- Implement secure cloud practices aligned with federal requirements (RBAC, Key Vault, IAM, encryption standards).
- Ensure compliance with NIST, RMF, FedRAMP, and agency-specific controls.
- Use Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and related tools to analyze system health, diagnose issues, and enforce SLAs.
- Work with engineering, security, and program staff to support ongoing cloud modernization efforts.
- Support onsite collaboration with customer stakeholders (note: role cannot be performed remotely long-term).
