MEDICATION ASSISTANT (AZ CCG)

We are looking for the right person to partner with our residents to help them continue to live their lives of purpose and make the most of every day by providing the best care and support we can give them. We specialize in assisted living and memory care. Highgate Senior Living's mission is to devote ourselves to help each resident live a life of purpose and each of us plays a crucial role in doing so. We operate communities in the western US and are seeking the right Medication Assistant to join our team. If you are working on establishing your career in the growing field of seniors housing, have a love and passion for serving others, a background in customer service, hospitality, or healthcare, this may be a good opportunity for you. This position is either full or part-time and includes being responsible for the care of our residents, which can be hands-on and/or stand-by assistance as needed. At Highgate, providing care means to provide for the whole person, providing physical assistance with activities of daily living and emotional, psychological, and soulful support.

The best candidate may have a current Certified Caregiver license, be an organized and detail-oriented individual with a positive and self-motivated attitude. Experience in passing medications will be preferred and we are willing to provide the required training to become certified to pass meds for the right candidate. You must have strong communication and critical thinking abilities as interacting with seniors while providing care requires both abilities. SKILLS NEEDED:

  1. Good customer service skills, the ability to intuit, and problem solve
  2. Patience, level-headedness, and compassion
  3. Computer skills or the ability to learn new software
  4. Ability to pivot, change direction and accomplish tasks with innovative approaches
  5. Detail orientation, demonstrated follow-up and documentation abilities
  6. Strong capability to focus on a task during periods of distraction
  7. Ability to take feedback and incorporate it into your efforts
  8. An understanding of what it takes to provide care to residents that need physical and/or cognitive support
  9. Comfortable to adapt quickly to the changing needs of an older adult
  10. An understanding or the willingness to gain an understanding of the various forms of dementia and how residents with dementia can continue to live with purpose

RELATABLE EXPERIENCE:

  1. Prior experience working in an assisted living community or memory care community as a Certified Medication Assistant or other role
  2. Jobs or volunteer assignments that have given you opportunities to provide care for someone or were detail-oriented in nature
  3. Other hospitality or healthcare-related experience
  4. Experience in customer service
  5. Roles in which you have been a multi-tasker
  6. Opportunities from your past where you have demonstrated kindness, patience, and compassion to varying groups and individuals
  7. Volunteer work involving vulnerable groups
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. At least 18 years of age
  2. A current Certified Caregiver license or the ability to get one quickly
  3. Ability to obtain CPR & First Aid Certification
  4. Current negative TB test
  5. Possess the ability to sit, stand, bend, and move continuously during work hours
  6. Ability to carry or transfer up to 25 lbs with assistance
  7. Ability to pass criminal record/background check
  8. Be efficient and exercise good time management skills
  9. Must be able to work well independently with little oversight
  10. Must have a track record of top-notch organizational abilities and communication skills
  11. Willing to attend and incorporate into your work efforts different types of training

Our compensation package will be flexible for this role based on the credentialing, tenure, and skill sets each candidate brings for consideration. The hourly wage range for this position is $19.00 to $23.50 per hour. Prior experience working with seniors is a plus.
