Job summary

Automotive & Mobility in Auburn Hills, MI is seeking an Automotive Axle Design Engineer to own the full life cycle of axle-related components. Based onsite in Auburn Hills, you will lead design, release, and continuous improvement across structures, seals, and fasteners while coordinating with OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers.

You will manage DFMEA/DVPR/FMEA artifacts, drive timelines, present action plans, and ensure robust documentation, drawing signoffs, and GD&T adherence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (ABET accredited)
• Minimum 5 years of experience in propulsion systems, automatic transmissions, or related field
• Knowledge of axle systems or components and prior DRE experience in OEM/Tier 1 environments
• Proficiency in GD&T, drawing creation, and virtual analysis
• Strong interpersonal communication and team leadership, including presenting to executives

Responsibilities

• Manage full life cycle of axle-related components (requirements, design, sourcing, manufacturing, validation, industrialization, warranty reduction)
• Design and release responsible for components; lead change-management for components
• Ensure design best practices, lessons learned, and continuous improvements in the release process
• Lead infrastructure evolution for components (documentation, specs, definitions, signoffs; review CAD/2D drawings)
• Own and update DFMEA, DVPR, and FMEA artifacts; drive timelines and root-cause analysis after launch
