Job summary

Akina, Inc. in Maryland is seeking a Software Engineer (SWE2) to develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems, including analytics, processing-intensive data, and real-time applications. The role requires TS/SCI with polygraph clearance.

You will work individually or as part of a team, review components, design features, and integrate software with system environments. On-site in Annapolis Junction, MD with a competitive salary.

Responsibilities

• Works individually or as part of a team.
• Reviews and tests software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results.
• Resolves software problem reports.
• Utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment.
• Provides input to system design including trade-offs, reuse, and requirements analysis from system level to components.
• Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.
• Design and code new software or modify existing software to add features.
• Debug existing software and correct defects.
• Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments.
• Develop simple data queries for existing databases or data repositories.
• Develop or implement algorithms to meet performance standards.
• Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components.
• Write or review software and system documentation.
• Develop software solutions by analyzing system performance and user needs; investigate problem areas.
• Serve as team lead at appropriate level for project.
• Modify existing software for performance or hardware changes.
• Design, develop and modify software systems using mathematical models to predict outcomes.
• Oversee software development teams and ensure work aligns with process constraints.
• Design or implement complex algorithms with timing/resource constraints.
• Perform quality control on team products.
• Coordinate software system installation and monitor operation to meet specifications.
• Implement documentation improvements for development standards.

Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline

Four (4) years of additional SWE experience may substitute for a degree
