Job summary

VSO is seeking an experienced AWS Landing Zone Accelerator SME to join a highly skilled team in Herndon, VA. The role focuses on building secure AWS foundations, automated governance, and multi-account patterns for a mission-critical project.

Candidates should have 5+ years in AWS infrastructure, hands-on Landing Zone experience, and the ability to work in highly controlled environments. On-site, full-time role requiring U.S. citizenship and TS/SCI eligibility.

Are you ready to put your AWS expertise to work on cloud challenges that few engineers get the chance to tackle?

Virtual Service Operations (VSO) is seeking an experienced AWS Landing Zone Accelerator (LZA) SME to join a highly skilled team delivering advanced cloud engineering capabilities for a mission-critical, security-sensitive initiative. Take a leading role in building secure AWS foundations that scale. You will guide the transition from manually configured cloud environments to consistent, automated, governed infrastructure, including deployments with demanding operational constraints. You will work with experienced technical partners in a collaborative environment where careful engineering and measurable results matter.

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement and maintain AWS Landing Zone Accelerator and multi-account governance patterns.


• Align development, test, and production configurations through infrastructure as code.


• Design and validate blue/green deployments and controlled rollback procedures.


• Develop repeatable deployment and migration processes for restricted AWS environments.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years in AWS cloud infrastructure or migration engineering.


• Direct hands-on experience implementing AWS Landing Zone Accelerator.


• Experience with AWS Organization, Control Tower, and infrastructure-as-code governance.


• Hands-on AWS cloud experience and ability to work effectively in highly controlled environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience operating across AWS commercial, GovCloud, or other restricted partitions.


• Experience designing resilient migration and cutover patterns.


• Relevant AWS professional or specialty certifications; Security+ or CISSP where applicable.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance; must be eligible for applicable SCI read-on/indoctrination and additional program-specific access approvals.


• Must reside within commuting distance of one of the following 4 approved secure work locations: Herndon, VA; Washington, DC; Seattle, WA; or Denver, CO.


• Regular on-site work in an approved secure facility and occasional work at authorized customer facilities may be required. This is not a remote position.
