Job summary

VSO Inc. is seeking an Azure Cloud Engineer to deploy and optimize Azure resources, implement IaC, and manage secure enclave environments.

You will work with Terraform, ARM/Bicep, Kubernetes, and Azure DevOps to automate deployments and CI/CD pipelines, while ensuring security and compliance across the Azure stack. This role requires onsite work near Lorton, VA and an active TS/SCI clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in CS/IT or related field.
• 5+ years of cloud administration/development experience focused on Microsoft Azure.
• Experience in secure enclave environments and security compliance frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of Azure services including Azure Virtual Desktop.
• Hands-on IaC with Terraform, ARM/Bicep, and Azure DevOps.
• Proficiency with PowerShell and scripting for resource deployment.
• Active TS/SCI clearance or above; willing to relocate to Lorton, VA.

Responsibilities

• Deploy Azure resources (VMs, Key Vaults, etc.) via Azure DevOps pipelines.
• Monitor and optimize Azure infrastructure performance and costs.
• Implement and manage Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
• Develop IaC using Terraform, ARM templates, or Bicep.
• Manage and secure enclave environments and IAM policies.
• Collaborate with teams to design and evolve cloud solutions.
• Troubleshoot complex Azure issues and document configurations.
• Perform Azure AVD image building and rotation via automation.
• Oversee Kubernetes clusters on Azure and container orchestration.
• Support customers with automation-first deployment approaches.
• Communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deploy Azure resources such as Azure Virtual Machines, Key Vaults, and other core Azure resources using Azure DevOps pipelines


• Monitor and maintain Azure infrastructure, addressing performance issues and optimizing cloud resources.


• Implement and manage Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines


• Develop and maintain cloud infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like ARM templates, Terraform, or Bicep


• Review, refine and troubleshoot new and existing IaC within the environment


• Design, implement, and manage secure enclave environments within Microsoft Azure.


• Ensure the stability, performance, and security of Azure enclave systems.


• Manage identity and access management (IAM) policies, ensuring least privilege access across enclave systems.


• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and enhance cloud solutions.


• Troubleshoot complex issues within Azure environments, providing escalation support as needed.


• Document configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting processes.


• Azure AVD image building and rotation via automation


• Designing, developing, deploying, and managing container orchestration through Kubernetes


• Configuring and managing Azure Kubernetes Service clusters and the underlying infrastructure


• Automating deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications


• Provide support in assisting customers installing software onto baseline desktops using an automation first mentality (DSC or Packer).


• Partner with leadership to shape engineering strategy and innovation


• Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).


• 5+ years of experience in cloud administration and development, with a focus on Microsoft Azure.


• Experience working in secure enclave environments and familiarity with security compliance frameworks


• Strong knowledge of Azure services, including Azure Virtual Desktop


• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, Azure DevOps, ARM templates, or Bicep.


• Proficiency in PowerShell and other scripting languages


• Strong experience with automating the deployment of Azure resources via code


• Strong knowledge of YAML, Json, Bicep and PowerShell


• Ability to contribute to key decisions and complex problem solving


• Ability to continuously improve development process and team velocity


• Azure certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-305, or equivalent are highly desirable.


• Travel: Up to 10%


• Clearance: Active Top Secret with SCI.

Requirements

• Must be within driving distance of Lorton, VA OR willing to relocate there (relocation packages available)


• Must be willing to work onsite


• Must be willing and able to travel up to 10%


• Must possess an active TS/ SCI clearance or above
