Job summary

Energy Ogre in Houston, TX is hiring a Full Stack Security Engineer (AWS) for an in-person role reporting to the VP of Software Development. The stack includes C#, .NET Core, React Native, SQL Server, and AWS, and you will help build secure applications and cloud-based tools that support our member experience.

You will contribute across the full SDLC, implement secure architectures, automate protections with IaC, and drive security mindset across DevOps practices. Travel not required.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• 3+ years of software development experience.
• Experience with C# and the .NET ecosystem (ASP.NET MVC 5, .NET Core).
• 3+ years hands-on experience with C#, .NET Core, SQL Server and React Native.
• Cloud security engineering background, AWS preferred.
• Security certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, or AWS Security Specialty preferred.
• Proficiency in Python or Bash scripting.
• Familiarity with NIST, CIS, and ISO 27001 security frameworks.
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight while meeting deadlines.
• Strong communication skills to translate technical needs for non-technical stakeholders.
• Capable of estimating effort accurately and delivering against milestones.
• Commitment to continuous learning and keeping up with evolving technologies.

Responsibilities

• Contribute across the full software development lifecycle from requirements through deployment.
• Diagnose user challenges, identify root causes, and build scalable solutions.
• Maintain and refactor existing codebases while adopting new technologies and architectures.
• Design and implement AWS security architecture, including IAM controls.
• Embed security practices into CI/CD pipelines and automate protections with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
• Monitor cloud infrastructure for anomalies, perform vulnerability assessments, and create incident response playbooks.
• Improve SQL Server stored procedures and encrypt data at rest and in transit.
• Establish infrastructure security measures such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, and encryption controls.
• Apply end-to-end encryption strategies to safeguard sensitive data.
• Execute functional and unit testing before release to UAT to ensure quality and performance.
