Job summary

The Nature Conservancy is seeking an AWS FinOps Engineer to drive cloud financial management, cost optimization, and governance across our AWS environment. You will partner with Cloud Engineering, DevOps, Finance, and business stakeholders to maximize value while enabling innovation and scalability.

You will bring hands-on coding, automation, and a strong FinOps framework (Inform, Optimize, Operate) with expertise in cost reporting, forecasts, and executive insights.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of AWS cloud experience and FinOps exposure.
• Experience managing costs in enterprise AWS environments.
• Strong understanding of cloud economics, budgeting, forecasting, and cost allocation methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Implement and mature FinOps practices across AWS environments using the Inform, Optimize, and Operate framework.
• Analyze AWS spending trends and provide actionable recommendations to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
• Develop cloud cost reporting, dashboards, forecasts, and executive-level insights.
• Manage and optimize AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Organizations, AWS Budgets, CUR, Savings Plans, and RI usage.
• Build automated solutions for cost monitoring, anomaly detection, chargeback/showback, and governance.
• Partner with application, platform, and business teams to identify optimization opportunities and align cloud spending with business objectives.
• Participate in architecture reviews to ensure cost efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
• Develop forecasts, budgets, unit-cost measures, and scenario analyses to link AWS consumption to business outcomes.
