Job summary

Strategic Business Systems (SBS) is seeking a Senior AWS DevOps Engineer to join their cloud engineering team in Chantilly, VA. The role centers on building secure AWS infrastructures, IaC, and robust CI/CD pipelines for government-focused workloads.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in DevOps, hands-on AWS deployment experience, and strong scripting abilities. Onsite work in Chantilly with a path toward advanced cloud security initiatives and cross-team collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years in DevOps, cloud engineering, or related disciplines.
• Hands-on experience deploying workloads in AWS.
• Experience with core AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, IAM, API Gateway, CloudWatch).
• Experience with IaC using CDK, Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar.
• Experience building or maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Working knowledge of Git and modern source-control practices.
• Scripting in Python, Bash, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Understanding of VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups, load balancers.
• Citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance; onsite Chantilly, VA.

Responsibilities

• Build, deploy, configure, and maintain secure AWS infrastructure for mission-critical apps.
• Develop IaC with CDK, CloudFormation, and/or Terraform.
• Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated builds and deployments.
• Operate cloud-native/serverless apps using AWS services like Lambda and API Gateway.
• Manage container workloads and supporting AWS infrastructure.
• Support databases such as RDS PostgreSQL and DynamoDB.
• Automate common tasks with scripting and IaC.
• Implement cloud monitoring, logging, and alerts with CloudWatch.
• Follow least-privilege security for IAM and Secrets Manager.
• Collaborate with developers and security teams on platform initiatives.
