Job summary

Securian Financial is seeking an AWS DevOps Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure supporting data and analytics platforms. You will own IaC-driven deployments, manage core AWS services, and collaborate across Data Engineering and Data Science teams to deliver secure, efficient solutions.

Hybrid working arrangement with in-office presence three days a week; strong emphasis on automation, security, and cost optimization in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of experience in cloud infrastructure engineering, with a focus on AWS.
• Experience with structured and unstructured data and data storage technology (RDS Postgres, S3).
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK).
• Experience with AWS services relevant to data and analytics (Glue, Redshift).
• Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices (Git, GitHub, CI/CD, Docker).
• Basic scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Understanding of cloud networking, security, and cost optimization principles.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Champion the selection of Data and Analytics platforms and tools across the enterprise.
• Engage with users and vendors to prove concepts validating use cases and value.
• Onboard new platforms and tools to ensure adoption across the organization.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering and Data Science to address tooling gaps.
• Build and maintain AWS infrastructure using IaC (Terraform or CloudFormation).
• Configure and manage core AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM, RDS, Lambda, Glue, Redshift, VPC).
• Support data teams by provisioning and optimizing cloud resources for pipelines and analytics.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting using CloudWatch.
• Participate in CI/CD pipeline development and deployment automation.
• Ensure infrastructure security through IAM, encryption, and networking configurations.
• Collaborate with engineers and architects to improve design and performance.
• Document infrastructure processes and configurations for transparency.
• Ability to work with ambiguity and organize requirements.
• Build productive relationships with partners and stakeholders.
• Proficient in managing Linux-based systems, including scripting and automation.
