AWS Senior DevOps Engineer

This resource will be part of our growing Infrastructure Automation Team within Public Cloud.

This role will be key in working with various infrastructure teams (Security, Networking, Database, Unix) to develop, deploy, and support cloud and hybrid applications.

Due to the collaborative nature of the role, it will be important that this resource be senior in both DevOps / AWS / technical skills and interpersonal skills.

Candidate should have strong communication, teamwork, customer service, and leadership skills to partner with broader global technology engineering, information security, and line of business teams.

• Use AWS to deploy highly available, scalable, and secure applications.
• Assist in architecting, designing, and implementing cloud-based IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions.
• Design, develop, and implement automation to support continuous delivery and integration solutions.
• Provide consulting and help build pipelines for application teams integrating cloud services into their applications.
• Design and develop platform engineering and automation for governing usage of cloud services and application autonomy.
• Design and implement workflows to automate the release and upgrade process for applications in Development, Test, and Production environments.

Collaborate with the Cloud Security and Identity Teams on the administration and engineering of Role-Based Access Controls and processes.

Help design and develop governance of cloud infrastructure, including technical controls and cost governance structures.

Create and update support documentation and standards.

Develop automated methodologies for deployment activities, configuration management, supporting systems, and business processes.

Use Jira to track and manage all work through the development lifecycle.

Proactively analyze and contribute improvements to deployment processes.

Investigate and contribute to resolving issues in production environments.

Drive compliance and security efforts related to systems managed by the team.

Skills / Experience

• 5+ years experience in AWS.
• AWS professional and/or specialty certifications, such as Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer.
• Experience implementing secure architectures for private and/or public internet-facing systems.
• Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts, infrastructure, and best practices (e.g., K8S, Containers, Serverless, Microservices).
• Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, Terraform, CloudFormation, Bitbucket, Bamboo, etc.
• Strong understanding of networking, internet protocols, and distributed systems.
• Experience designing and developing resilient, highly available, and scalable cloud systems.
• Experience in cloud cost optimization and budget management.
• Proficiency in Python, AWS CLI.
• Working knowledge of Shared Responsibility models.
• Prior experience building CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience working in Agile teams and tools like Jira, Confluence.
• Background in software development is a plus.
• Understanding of financial markets is a plus.
• Azure experience is a plus.
• Bachelor's degree in STEM or related field; Master's degree is a plus.
