Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking a Security Engineer – Cloud Security (AWS) to build and run the AWS cloud security program, reduce risk through visibility, guardrails, and automation. The role spans commercial and GovCloud with planned Azure expansion; interviews in Minneapolis, MN or Denver, CO.

The role reports to the Manager, Vulnerability Management and requires interview in person in Minneapolis or Denver. Hybrid work with three days in the office.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in information security.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS and cloud security concepts.
• Ability to communicate technical risk to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with cloud security tools like Inspector and Security Hub.

Responsibilities

• Lead AWS cloud security program development and operations.
• Identify and communicate cloud security risk across environments.
• Implement guardrails and automated controls to reduce risk.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve security posture.
• Support DevSecOps practices, including CI/CD gate integration.
