New Generation Management Consulting (PTY) Ltd is seeking an AWS Cloud Engineer for a remote, 6-month contract with 50% travel to Africa. You will design robust AWS infrastructure, enforce security practices, and lead migrations while optimizing costs and integrating with third-party services.

The ideal candidate has extensive telecom/digital transformation experience, strong analytical skills, and knowledge of BSS. English fluency is required; French/Swahili/Portuguese are advantages.

Qualifications

• AWS certification (Solutions Architect or DevOps) required.
• 5+ years of experience in telecom/digital transformation projects.
• Strong analytical capabilities to identify issues and develop solutions.
• Experience with business process modelling.
• Familiarity with Business Support Systems (BSS).
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies for project delivery.
• Willingness to travel 50% to Africa (Uganda, Rwanda, DRC, Angola, Zimbabwe, Kenya).
• English fluency; French, Swahili or Portuguese a plus.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on transformative cloud projects that shape the future of telecommunications across Africa. Our ideal candidates must be able to travel 50% of the time to countries such as Uganda, Rwanda, DRC, Angola, Zimbabwe, and Kenya. A valid passport is required for the contract. This is an initial 6 month contract with the potential for further extension based on the project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Cloud Infrastructure Design : Architect and implement robust cloud infrastructure solutions on AWS to meet business needs.
• Security Best Practices : Ensure adherence to security best practices and compliance standards in all cloud operations.
• Cloud Migration Expertise : Lead cloud migration efforts, ensuring seamless transitions and minimal downtime.
• Cost Optimization : Analyze and implement strategies for cost-effective cloud resource management.
• API Gateway Management : Manage API gateways to facilitate efficient communication between services.
• Data Transformation : Oversee data transformation processes to support integration with various systems.
• Third-Party Integrations : Collaborate with multiple third-party services to enhance system capabilities.

• BSS Domain Knowledge : Familiarity with Business Support Systems is essential.
• Agile Methodologies : Understanding of agile practices and frameworks to facilitate project delivery.
