AWS API Solutions Architect

A-TEK and its subsidiary, Mackson Consulting, are leaders in digital innovation, supporting health, federal civilian, and security missions across various U.S. Departments.

We seek an experienced AWS API Solutions Architect to lead the design and implementation of secure, scalable cloud API solutions supporting digital modernization across FDA programs. This role involves enabling system interoperability by leveraging AWS services—from serverless architecture to event-driven patterns. The ideal candidate will have expertise in API design, authentication, DevOps, and compliance in public sector environments. This position is remote, and A-TEK is not sponsoring candidates at this time.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop enterprise APIs using AWS services like API Gateway, Lambda, AppSync, EventBridge, and Step Functions.
• Create reusable, standards-based integration patterns following AWS best practices.
• Architect secure authentication and authorization flows (OAuth2, OpenID Connect, SAML).
• Design high-availability, fault-tolerant API services with global scalability.
• Manage API lifecycle including versioning, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
• Collaborate with platform teams (e.g., Appian, Salesforce, ServiceNow) for system interoperability.
• Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines with AWS tools like CodePipeline, CodeBuild, and CloudFormation.
• Monitor APIs using CloudWatch, X-Ray, and third-party tools.
• Guide teams through code reviews, performance tuning, and security best practices.
• Participate in architecture reviews, design discussions, and sprint planning.

Qualifications:

• 8+ years in solution architecture, focusing on APIs and integration.
• 3+ years hands-on AWS experience with serverless and microservices.
• AWS Solutions Architect certification required; Developer certification a plus.
• Strong knowledge of REST, GraphQL, event-driven architectures, and hybrid APIs.
• Experience with AWS GenAI services like Amazon Bedrock is a plus.
• Familiarity with platforms such as Appian, Salesforce, ServiceNow, or M365.
• Understanding of compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, FISMA, HIPAA) in public sector environments.
