University of Virginia is seeking an Award Setup Grants Administrator to support sponsored awards and compliance activities within the Office of Sponsored Programs. The role reports to the Award Setup Manager and offers remote work options under UVA guidelines.
Preferred candidates will have strong communication, the ability to learn new systems quickly, and the capacity to work independently while contributing to the Pre-Award team in a fast-paced environment.
The University of Virginia Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) Award Setup Grant Administrator, reporting to the Award Setup Manager, to perform sponsored award and compliance activities supporting our research mission. This position is eligible to be remote. OSP's mission is to provide leadership in research administration, support the research endeavors of University faculty, ensure the responsible stewardship of research funding, and oversee the submission of proposals and the negotiation and acceptance of awards by the University according to State, University and sponsor regulations. The preferred candidate will have strong listening and communication skills, be adept at learning new systems, and will grasp new concepts and processes easily and efficiently. The ability to work self-sufficiently on assigned tasks while still being an active and integral part of the Pre-Award team is a key component of the Award Setup Grant Administrator roles. OSP is a fast-paced, deadline driven environment with high volume, requiring excellent time management and organizational skills.
Education: Bachelor's degree. Experience: At least three years of relevant experience is required, grants and contracts experience is preferred. A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Physical Demands: This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings and programs.
Experience: At least 3 years relevant experience with grants and contracts in research administration, along with at least 1 year of experience in an award setup role at an institution of higher education. Licensure: Certified Research Administrator (CRA) certification or similar.
